Global Learning Courses: Global Perspective with Education

I had the chance to take 7 global learning courses which was over the minimum of 2 global learning courses required by FIU. These courses ranged from different studies but all were surrounded by a global perspective.

Courses Taken

COM3461- Intercultural in Film

This course is about the relationship between communication and culture. I had a great time watching films for homework. This class opens a world of different films and cultural perspectives. Down below is my international analysis paper on two films: one from France called The 400 blows and an American film called Moonlight.

HSA4113 - Global Issue and Trends in Healthcare

This course was developing issues and trend seen in global healthcare systems while determining their impact and solutions to those trends. My issue was obesity seen in children and how it is constantly rising each year, especially in America. The solution I came up with is dance class which is fun and can help with weight loss according to research studies. Children ages 5-10 can experience dangers at the -gym while dance class is equipment-free. Down below is a video I made to advertise such a program.

IDS3309 - How Do We Know What We Know

This course merges the skills of global information literacy with the critical perspective required to ascertain and measure the authenticity and credibility involved in academic and casual research and writing. This was an eye-opening course of seeing how media literacy is an important foundation to have as a person who consumes media daily. This made a major change in how I consume information and where I get it from. Down below is my final capstone project for this course on how the media handled the assassination of the Haitian president.

Additional Courses Taken

AMH2020 - American History since 1877

COM3417- Communication in Film
