During my time at FIU, I had the chance to experience my leadership skills with global learning. I was a director in partnership with a new global health club called Med Reach, a DEI Chair for PHI DELTA EPSILON Fraternity, and a secretary for Black women in medicine.
These positions open my mind to today's interconnected world and how it is more important than ever to make the world a better place.
Black Women in Medicine - Secretary
I had the chance to be the link of communication for my organization from sending and receiving emails to writing detailed information from weekly board meetings. I was committed to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment where every voice is heard and valued.
PHI DELTA EPSILON ( Pre-Med Fraternity)- DEI Chair
As DEI chair in this fraternity, I had the chance to promote Deity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a future physician, I considered my position very important and did many sessions to promote these principles to have my peers become well-rounded doctors in this melting pot of a country. Down below is a session I did on how the ASL community is affected by healthcare and ways to have better communication with people who experience deafness. Professor Jebian, a deaf and ASL professor here at FIU, had the chance to come and present this session.
MED REACH - Director of Partnership
Med Reach was a club I cofounded with my peers to create a global health club here at Florida International University. My position was to find our philanthropy, which is Medical Teams International. This philanthropy aligns with our values and goals as a club. I was also responsible for booking interactive workshops for the members. Down below was a suturing workshop with the U.S. Army.
